Present simple tense


(Affirmative Sentences)

Read the rules given below :


  • Present indefinite tense has the action in present time at it's beginning stage.
  • In this tenses, we use the first form of the verb or on occasion, s or es is added to it.
  • When the subject is i/, we/you/they or some plural number, the only the first form of the Main verb is used after the subject. (I write. We say. You sing. Those men know nothing.)
  • When the subject is he/she/it or some singular number, s or es is added to the First form of the main verb. [he comes here daily. she writes legibly. It flies well. Rani works hard. Gopal always stands first.)

Study the following sentences carefully:



  1. I work.
  2. He reads a book.
  3. Ram learns his lesson.
  4. Sita sings a song.
  5. Birds chirp.
  6. The moon shines at night.
  7. She loves me.
  8. We play cricket every day
  9. I always speak the truth
  10. The peon rings the bell
  11. I do everything on time
  12. The children break the toys
  13. The sunrise in the east.
  14. We obey our parents.
  15. We pray to god.


(Negative Sentences)

Read the rules given below


  • We can make negative sentences in present indefinite tense. In this case. we use do not or does not before the first form of the main verb.
  • When the subject is I, we, you, they or some plural numbers, do not +First form of the main verb is used. [i do not like it.]
  • When the subject is he, she, it or some singular number, does not +first form of the main verb is used. [she does not love you.]


Study the following sentences carefully:


  1. He does not work.
  2. Rani does not sleep.
  3. He does not make a noise.
  4. She does not live here.
  5. You do not put on dirty clothes.
  6. We do not go to school together.
  7. He does not open the window.
  8. Our teachers do not beat us.
  9. You do not learn your lesson. 
  10. I do not like such behaviour.
  11. They do not love each other.
  12. He does not abuse anybody.
  13. I do not like your behaviour at all.
  14. We do not quarrel with our class fellows.


(Interogative Sentences and interro-negative sentences)

Read the rules given below


  • We ask a question or make interrogation through such sentence 
  • The helping verb do or does is placed before the subject, and question-mark(?) is put at the end of the sentences.
  • When the subject is I, we, you, they or some plural number, do is used. [do you go there]
  • When the subject is he, she, it or some singular numbers, does in use. [does she know you?]
  • In interro-negative sentences, first comes to do or does, then the subject, after the subject not and the first form of the main verb.[do we do not eat too live?]
